This Red Ball of Vitamin C

Today, we picked our first home-grown tomato of the season. It looks like an orb of shiny perfection, sitting on our counter without a bruise or blemish upon it.

Tomorrow, we will trim the herbs in the garden, and have a tomato-basil snack.

There is something uniquely satisfying about eating food grown with your own hands.  It reminds us how hard it is to cultivate the food we take for granted when we go to the grocery store, but, even more, it reminds us to be grateful for every bite....and gratitude is the sweetest spice of all.
